Time for a Change

Hey 2020,

Who hurt you?

Let's talk it out.

- All of us.

Y'all. It's no secret, the start of this year has been... rough. I'm stubborn. I'm a fighter. I wasn't about to let this crap get the best of me. But sometimes you have to admit when your foe has bested you, even if it's just for the battle. Sometimes you have to say "okay, you can have this one" and then you go back to it when you've had a chance to regroup and get your head in the game and heal. And sometimes you have to find a new approach overall.

I was worried I was going to have to scrap everything, but then I realized how much this story needs to be told. So I'm taking option C- a new approach. I'll still planning to cover much of the same ground, both literally and physically, but this is giving me the opportunity to expand in several ways. I've hashed out a new outline and I'm so happy about how this is coming together. And as with everything before, I can't do it without your help.

Due to the pandemic and the expert guidelines to stay at home and "social distance" ourselves from one another, I wanted to shift some of my process to a virtual platform. Starting today, I am putting out an open call for you to send videos and photos in to me to possibly use for the documentary. So... let me lay out what I'm looking for as well as how to submit.

- videos/photos/etc of your daily "lockdown life" If you have anything to record your experience from day 1 to day X (whenever this ends), send it my way. I'd love to have some clips or photos or journal entries or what have you to be able to document what individual life was like during this time.

- videos/photos/etc of your life BEFORE lockdown

I know some of you are prolific vloggers or instagrammers. If you've got any clips/etc. to kind of show how things were going at the beginning of 2020 before the pandemic, send them on over. - interview videos

This one is a little trickier. I have some excellent interview videos from before I had to travel back east, and I plan to continue doing interviews in person once it is safe to do so. But until then, I'd like to request that anyone who is interested in doing a virtual interview please reach out to me. I've got some guidelines for creating your video and can send you the list of questions.

- professional videos

For anyone who may be a journalist or filmmaker who has clips related to America in 2020, especially anything centered around the COVID pandemic, please let me know.

I set up a Google Form with submission information for you. Here's the link to submit:

If your file is too large to submit via the form, please contact me via email and we'll work out the best way for you to send it.

To wrap this all up, if you have anything at all you'd like to contribute or ask, please don't hesitate to reach out on social media or via email. This project has become even more collaborative as it goes, and I couldn't be happier about that! I'll send more updates as they come, and I plan to post some photos and videos for y'all very soon.

Now go home, stay there, don't hoard, and wash your hands. ;)

***EDIT: PS- please also visit the following link and answer a few short questions. It'd be a huge help for me moving forward with the project.***
